OUR PROJECTS

VISUAL JOURNAL

Students use visual journals to track their wellness, take part in Art Therapy prompts, and create sketches and other artwork through the year. These "sketchbooks" are beautiful and personal projects where students are in complete control of the outcome of the book.

Outdoor excursions and explorations, to learn about nature, local and BC history and Indigenous content through an alternate setting.

Nature can be the classroom!

Students learn about Indigenous groups, foraging, facts about local flora/fauna, and conduct their own research.

DREAMSCAPE MEDITATION
(MEDITATION MONDAYS)

A type of meditation that requires lots of imagination! Also known as "conscious dreaming", students focus on their breathing while going into a calm state, and begin to visualize environment, characters/beings or even themselves within their dream. It is a great way to spark imagination for art projects, story writing, This type of meditation is usually accompanied by calming music and lasts from 15-30 minutes.

This is also a great way for students to start their week, by getting into a positive, relaxed and creative mindset.

GENTLE to MODERATE PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

During the week, we take part in indoor/outdoor activities that promote physical well-being, but are modified to those who might normally struggle in a mainstream P.E. course. Students can raise or lower the intensity of our exercises depending on their circumstances. This way, all students can actively take part however is most comfortable, while giving their bodies the movement they need.

Activities include:

Walks and hikes, yoga, dance, strength conditioning, games, capture the flag, gentle cardio, frisbee, etc.
